Exceptional Children & Youth Educator Grants for Public School Special Education Teachers and Therapists in New Castle, Kent & Sussex counties in the State of Delaware.

Exceptional Children & Youth Educator
                                Resource Grants JHS Legacy Group is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is committed to assisting and supporting the special education teachers and therapists, who teach and serve our exceptional children and youth, who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other related pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), such as Asperger’s and are students in the Delaware Autism Program (DAP).

WHO MAY APPLY: A public school teacher or therapist serving special needs students in pre-k through 12 in New Castle, Kent and Sussex county school districts is eligible to apply. For purposes of this grant, a “special needs student” is defined as a student with a diagnosis of ASD or other related PDD and an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). No more than three (3) grants will be awarded to any one school in the same year.


REQUESTS: Grants of up to $500 are available and requests may be submitted for the following areas of need:

  • Classroom supplies
  • Sensory integration resources
  • Therapists’ (in-class or pull-out) sessions
  • Developmental toys
  • Speech and language materials
  • Independent living skills
  • Educational field trips
  • Math manipulatives
  • Resource books
  • Reinforcers

Exceptional Children & Youth Educator
                                Resource Grants DEADLINE: September 15th each year. Applications postmarked by September 15th will be considered. Application review and funding determinations will be made by a Grant Committee of the Board of Directors. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.

NOTIFICATION: Acknowledgements and notification of the status of an application will be sent to all applicants by email no later than September 30th.

Completed forms should be received or postmarked by January 31st. The completed form will be reviewed by the Grant Committee and most importantly, it will be used to assist other special educators, who are seeking innovative and successful ideas and ways to help their students.
